Research and planning - Audience profile
We are aiming for our target audience are 18-24 year olds who enjoy indie music and the life style. After looking at the socio-economic scale, we have decided that our audience would fit into the social grade C1 which represents students and the younger generation that are most likely hard working in college or uni and have a part time job. In our particular auidences spare time the activities we think they would attend gigs as opposed to going out clubbing. We also feel that they would go to house parties instead of going into town at night, and have an exclusive group of close friends who they would spend most there time with. The type of shops they would buy their clothes from would be Topman, all saints and other shops that suit this genre, All Saints and are into skate boarding and smoking. The tv programs that this target audience are most likely to watch are films such as 'This is England', but mostly when watching tv they would just put the music channels such as 'Lava' and 'NME'. Some bands which this type of audience would most enjoy are bands such as....
As you can tell by listening to songs and bands such as these the music is very uplifted and happy, they are also very low-fi and simply which shows authentic but shows seriousness in the song.

Digipack
This is a digipack which I have created by copying images off the internet. The reason for doing this because these are the sort of pictures that will be using. As you can see the photos are mostly black and white which makes it very simplistic to the audience.
Things that I will be paying special attention to are the little detail such as bar code, tack list and what font would best suit the digipack.

Music + effects theory
http://clearinghouse.missouriwestern.edu/manuscripts/325.php
What kind of questions are the researchers interested in?
First off this website is focusing on the genres of heavy metal and rap because the younger generation of today can relate to this type of music, also adults don't appreciate this type of genre therefore this is challenging the dominant ideology. The questions that the researchers are most interested in are for example 'why does this type of genre inspire you so much?'
http://www.ehow.com/facts_4896441_effects-rap-music-behavior.html
What does the author of this site consider more problematic than the music?
Her theory was that its not about rap music people should be focusing on other issues such as guns ,lack of education, violence and an increasing in crime

What are the key concerns that have been raised about the effects of rap music?
That the music its self is influencing teenagers to respond to the lyrics wrote, It is also encouraging violence towards young children and glamurises criminal lifestyle.

Research and planning Brief history of music video
A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete a piece of music/song. Modern music videos are made for marketing device intend to promote the sale of music recordings. Music videos came into there own in the 1980's when MTV based format around the medium and later with the laugh of VH1.
This was the first video to be published on MTV and as you can see is it very basic and low-fi.
This video is very different to the one above as it has budget is a lot higher and is very glossy.
This video has a very stereotypical towards women. It is also very over the top sexy and it shows that videos are becoming very more obviously sexual.
In 1926 with the arrival of 'talkies'many musical short films were produced.

Research and planning Music Video and Narration.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEukS2YN9B8
The narration in Arctic Monkeys - Leave before the lights come on is omniscient because you see the video from different points of view. For example, you follow the man before the woman jumps and you see the woman attempt to jump again at the end.
Point of view shots are used throughout the video and parallel edits also.

Music Video and Narrative: Propp.
the hero in this video is a white good looking male who does have a point of view shot.
the princess is an attractive white female who shows her body in representation of reward for the hero.
This video is very mainstream showing a clear love story to the audience.
We feel that this video is linked to the dominant representation of a typical male hero because he is an attractive white male. Therefore it is very stereotypical.
The princess in the video is also pretty and therefore is a good reward for the hero and does not challenge dominant representation. It follows the mainstream thang.

Music video narrative and todorov
who creates the disruption?
The rock band starts the disruption by explaining what they are going to do at the start of the video so this is a Equilibrium.
How are the stages signalled through the use of media language?
The rock band are controlling the narrative throughout the video.
could you link this to representation?
This video's narrative holder is a young white man so this is stereotypical.

This is video is redundancy because the message is very formal it also has a level of seriousness and authenticity.
Mariah Carey:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0habxsuXW4g
This video would been seen as a 'sexy video' including short dresses, close up on Mariah's body approaching more towards the male audiences.

All American Rejects:

This video is a performance sceptical because it doesn't really have any meaning to the lyrics and there are many costume changes and light effects involved

Some redundancy and entropy
This video is a entropy music video because he talks about romance and the video does not back this statement up because the cinematography of this video is shots and angles of him and his band
This video is redundant because the lyrics are wrote at the bottom of the screen and the cartoon animation reflects the lyrics.
This video shows entropy because the lyrics have to relation to the video.

Research and planning
Research and planning -
Before we even thought about filming and started thinking about the digital technology side of things we started to but together many things that would make the actual filming a lot quicker and less hassle, for example our group put together a pre-production which included useful planning such as designing a plan schedule to know when everything is happening and where the certain filming will take place.

Another very helpful part of pre-production planning was when we watched the first 30 seconds of our music video which was Britney Spears - Baby one more time and write down every bit of cinematography we could see and how far into the thirty seconds it was, this helped our group because their wasn't anyone standing around not knowing what to do people were rather in the shot itself or looking at the camera making sure that the right shot was being taken. This also helped me as i was playing the role of Britney in the video so by writing down the cinematography and what times it took place it was a lot more easier for me to get the shot as identical to the real video as I could.
In all of this pre-production the section what I think helped me and the group the most was the
